John Pollack, MD

Dr. Pollack is a retina specialist, researcher, and educator with a background in biotech/medical devices, healthcare data analytics, healthcare market research and nutraceutical startups. He is a partner with Illinois Retina Associates in Chicago and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center. In addition to his retina practice, Dr. Pollack serves as Chief Medical Officer at jCyte. He was previously Chief Medical Officer at Neurotech Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Pollack is past president of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and its Foundation. In 1999, he co-founded the annual ASRS Preferences and Trends Survey which continues to serve as a leading assessment of global retina practice patterns. He has served as Director or Invited Faculty at numerous scientific meetings, published extensively, and has participated in numerous clinical studies in a variety of roles including study chairperson, principal investigator, and co-investigator. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness and is a past board member of Notal Vision, Inc. Dr. Pollack has co-founded three physician-focused companies including Vestrum Health (acquired by CorEvitas in 2021), Covalent Medical, and Clarus Acuity Group.
