Paul Hallen
Global Head Retina & Glaucoma, Alcon
Mr. Hallen is currently Vice President of both Retina and Glaucoma at Alcon, the worldwide leader in ophthalmic surgical products. Paul has 29 years of uniquely broad ophthalmic experience in Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, R&D, and Acquisitions. Mr. Hallen also was a Vice President of Alcon R&D, and was responsible for both internal developments and external acquisitions for Alcon across all business units (Surgical, Pharmaceutical, and Vison Care). In this role he acquired key companies and technologies for advancing care for patients with Cataract, Glaucoma, and Retina diseases. Mr. Hallen has also been a consultant for NASA in the Mission to Mars Program related technologies for managing the eye health of astronauts and enabling extended micro-gravity missions. His Multi-spectral Imaging technology proposal received a grant for development and implementation in the space program. Mr. Hallen holds a BS in Engineering from Cal Polytechnic University and an MS in Management from the University of Southern California. He is also the holder of many patents for ophthalmic devices.
